We are searching for a Project Engineer to lead Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) which will include both internal and supplier efforts. The successful candidate will take direction from senior Integrated Development Team Leaders and Program Chief Engineer for the Space Station Program.   The Space Station program is comprised of environmental and thermal control equipment including but not limited to Water Processor Assembly, Oxygen Generator Assembly, Thermal Control and Air Revitalization. The SDE hardware includes but is not limited to valves, pressure sensors, motors and temperature sensors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating setting team meeting agendas, leading team meetings and driving action item closures

  • Team activity scope control, including status and corrective action plans to budget challenges

  • Coordination of engineering change activities and Supplier Requests for Information

  • Communicate internally, supplier status as well as communicate status to Collins customers

  • Drive actions to supplier to maintain schedule and delivery commitments

  • Monitor supplier activities and commitments while driving any internal actions that are enablers to supplier milestone attainment.

The successful candidate will drive the execution of all engineering responsibilities on the program while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. Direct communication with customers will be required – including daily tag-ups, weekly meetings, and quarterly meetings. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree from an accredited institution and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Prior experience in related engineering discipline(s).

  • Prior experience with electromechanical hardware

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer term projects

  • Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering staff

  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, Windchill

  • Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers

  • Ability to bring team members together and work problems to resolution

  • A desire to lead with the purpose of improving IPD Team performance

  • Ability and desire to become an export focal and perform export classifications for the program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering
