Senior Systems Engineer - Flight Simulation
Description
This Senior Systems Engineer position is within the Simulation Solutions & Services (SS&S) business area. SS&S develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop trainers to high-fidelity weapon systems and full-flight training systems. This position is located in Sterling, VA. A comprehensive relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Agile environment to design and implement complex systems. Versatility and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and ability to adapt to changing priorities is highly desired. This role will work in a team environment and have the opportunity to work amongst other Agile teams. This role may have opportunities to act in a Product Owner or Scrum master type role for the appropriate candidate.
Responsibilities

Work amongst our team to perform systems tasks including design, requirements capture, development, documentation, integration and testing of complex system of systems
Demonstrate thorough communication with the team and across other teams
Learn from and support experienced engineers with various tasks including but not limited to (integration of a system, troubleshooting, running and facilitating testing, producing reports and updating documentation)
Provide mentoring to newer team members
Contribute to a culture of trust, respect, integrity, excellence and innovation.
Interact with customer focals as necessary
Maintain a customer focus that builds and strengthens those relationships
Required Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Experience in systems design including requirements capture/analysis, system design, systems integration/test, including hardware/software integration.
Possess communication, documentation and collaboration / teamwork skills.
Experience with software development teams in an Agile environment using Kanban or Scrum methodologies.
Desired Qualifications
Experience interfacing directly with both internal and external customers including presentations and issue resolution
Experience with simulators and training systems for military and/or commercial entities
Familiarity with the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Initiative and the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design
Experience or familiarity with MBSE and/or CI/CD concepts
