This position is for a staff software engineer responsible for Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) and certification of avionics solutions for the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Mission Avionics software applications.  Our engineers work in a highly technical and rewarding environment with the ability to influence new software products. Our staff software engineers utilize a variety of skills on a regular basis including synthesis of new and existing architectures that meld commercial and military avionics functionality, software engineering development best practices, DevOps, and providing written and verbal correspondence across multiple international boundaries/management levels/domains. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining DevOps processes to enhance infrastructure and FVL Mission Avionics software development. 

  • Work closely with various development teams to understand and analyze the application components and their build, deployment and dependency requirements, and develop the DevOps solutions using the enterprise standard tools and industry best practices. 

  • Maintain a strong focus on automation, self-service, rapid feedback, continuous improvement and leveraging best practices throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Serve as the primary technology and software engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for FVL Mission Avionics DevSecOps tools, processes, best practices, and training.

  • Research, design and develop automation method to support the platform provisioning, maintenance and operations of products and services

  • Assist with application integration and troubleshooting in this infrastructure for a complex application environment, including management of dependencies on services, platforms, and other applications

  • Create DevOps process automation and tooling to implement standards and boundaries in a way that empowers our application development teams to help themselves for their infrastructure and deployment needs.

  • Plan and implement system security configuration, to include access control, host and client access, file permissions, etc.

  • Collaborate with solution architects to devise infrastructure solutions most suitable to meet system requirements

  • Develop best practices, operational procedures and design documentation

  • Plan and coordinate system utilization, and performs growth analysis and capacity planning

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.  In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Qualifications (Required):

  • DevOps Experience (software, software development methodologies, workflows), ideally 3-5 years 

  • Experience with DevOps workflows using tools such as Git, Ansible / Ansible towers, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, & Terraform a plus

  • Familiar with DevOps tools (Bitbucket, JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible)

  • Understanding of security concepts, best practices and how to apply them, such as SSH, public key encryption, access credentials, certificates, TLS and data encryption

  • Highly self-motivated and contributing to a positive work environment

  • Ability to script automation tools using one or more scripting technology Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, Python, etc.

  • Knowledge of Linux fundamentals and scripting

  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical thinking (strong problem resolution skills and process development)

Experience highly desired:

  • Experience with DOORS, SVN, and Atlassian Software Development tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, JAMA, etc.)

  • Security+ certification

  • In-depth experience in software architecture, design and development using languages such as C++, C, and/or Python.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 661 standard and bus protocols

  • Experience with OpenGL

  • Experience with TCP/IP network applications development

  • Able to deploy, manage and maintain systems in KVM, VMware, AWS and Azure cloud infrastructures

  • Experience in both embedded systems and hosted application software development

  • Software or Systems experience with Point Cloud Systems

  • Test Automation (Python) experience
