The Communications department is seeking a highly motivated Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the development of new Avionics communications projects. The Communication group supports, integrates, and develops multiple commercial avionics communications products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets. The communications products include new and next generation HF, VHF, L-Band and Ku-Band systems.
A Principal Technical Project Manager (TPM) is being sought to join the Communications team to support current communication systems lifecycle activities, ongoing pursuits and future developments.
Relocation assistance is available once we return to the site.
Take ownership of technical project pursuit, design, development, and test activities.
Author key development artifacts to define execution of the project and performance of the system.
Lead project planning, execution and bid activities.
Provide technical guidance and motivate multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Coordinate project staffing with engineering management and provide timely forecasts of staffing demand.
Perform risks & opportunities management activities throughout project execution.
Responsible for overall financial performance of engineering activities for the project.
Track, report, and analyze project health metrics, to include earned value, requirements, test burndown.
Present project status to multiple levels of Leadership.
Support internal and external stakeholders as the primary technical point of contact, demonstrating effective communication skills.
Evaluate & document current (and define future) architectures to solve business problems
Be the primary technical point of contact to external customers.
Accomplish tasks on schedule.
The applicant must be self-motivated, self-disciplined, with good communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to work within a multifunctional, multidiscipline team. The candidate will be required to demonstrate flexibility and an ability to coordinate with multiple internal organizations, suppliers and customers to achieve a common goal.
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience
In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Project development experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering disciplines enabling effective technical leadership during pursuit, capture, and execution of programs.
Project management experience in medium to large projects over $50 million, such as planning and tracking projects, performing to a schedule and cost plan, and reporting to leadership.
ALM suite of tools (JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, etc.)
Experience with DO-254, DO-178C, ARP4754A product and process development standards
Experience leading engineering projects
The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. In addition, the following attributes are highly desirable:
