Collins Aerospace Avionics Concepts, Practices, and Tools (CPT) organization seeks a Sr Engineer, Software Engineering on the Custom Applications team. We seek an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for problem-solving and satisfying customer needs in developing software solutions for internal customers.

This position can be located on site or remotely from any US based location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mentor less experienced Software Developers in proper software design, code, integration, testing, and documentation.

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test, and document software.

  • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.

  • Perform in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification, and validation of products

  • Assist with estimates for your team’s work.

  • Contribute to software requirements capture, analysis, and creation for well-defined software designs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (STEM degree highly preferred) and 5 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Experience designing and developing Object-Oriented (OO) software (ideally 5+ years).

  • Experience with OO languages such as Java, Python, C#, or C++.

  • Experience in web applications development.

  • Work with Windows or Linux Operating Systems.

  • Create and troubleshoot Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Able to work independently and within a team.

  • Potential for travel three to four weeks a year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating software systems.

  • Experience solving problems and delivering quality software.

  • Interfacing with external data sources.

  • Development experience using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and JavaScript.
