Role overview:

The Military Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Business organization is seeking a talented Leader to join the Hardware, Packaging and Engineering Test team.  This role will require a candidate who is ready to lead a dynamic Hardware Team, become a mentor throughout the Department and help to guide the Department and the Organization into the future. The ideal candidate for this role has the courage to take prudent risks, the grit to persevere through difficult challenges, and the foresight, experience and wisdom to lead positive change throughout the organization.

Job Responsibilities

An Engineering Manager has the following primary responsibilities:

  • Recruits, on-boards, develops, and manages individual contributing technical talent.

  • Management of both Mechanical and Electrical Engineer team members.

  • Provide mentoring and oversight to the Hardware team members.

  • Responsible for success (technical, cost, schedule, DTC, product integrity, manufacturability etc.) of assigned/allocated tasks and activities.

  • Coordination of multiple program efforts over a vast area of product domain.

  • Leads the team through complex problem sets utilizing critical thinking skills.

  • Oversees and participates in development of engineering bids to ensure success.

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling responsibilities for groups of engineers.

  • Staying positive while leading teams through times of change, including organizational change and adoption of new procedures, policies, tools, and techniques.

Basic Qualifications

Further, the following skills and attributes are necessary for consideration:

  • Experience with SEER-H and / or Bidmaster Web Tools.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to address multiple audiences including peers, customers and customer leadership, Engineering leadership, Program Management,  Marketing/Business Development, Operations, and technical staff at all skill levels from new hire to Technical Fellow.

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.  In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Additional Desired Qualifications

Further, the following skills and attributes are desirable for consideration:

  • Experience with Transition to Production Process.

  • Experience with product development analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with Commercial and Military EMI and Environmental Test Methods and Practices.

Candidate must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security clearance.
