The Military Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Business is seeking qualified candidates for a Pr. Systems Engineer in our Ground & Weapons SATNAV Systems department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We continue to build on a strong history of providing navigation equipment to meet the evolving needs of military users. Our navigation solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and pinpoint accuracy for military missions worldwide. Leading the way in GPS navigation technology, our array of products and systems cover airborne, precision-guided munitions, ground handheld receivers and embedded applications.
Our team needs engineers interested in solving complex problems, creatively architecting, designing, developing and verifying real-time embedded GPS receivers for military airborne, ground and weapons applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and receiver architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team effort to develop our Modernized GPS receiver products. The engineer will coordinate regularly with engineering and program management to ensure the success of the project. The ideal candidate will foster a learning environment to enable efficient and productive product line development using modern development and leadership techniques supporting continuous improvement while delivering on customer needs.
The successful candidate should be experienced in the following general skills:

Solid understanding of systems/software development processes for real-time embedded applications

In addition to the general skills listed, the ideal candidate will bring experience from the following specific technologies and engineering tools:
Requirements and architectural skills with functional decomposition, subsystem interface definition, technology application, and analysis
Experience with real-time embedded hardware systems
Experience with Eclipse, Jira, Jama and DOORS
Experience with Ada, C, C++, Java or other high-order languages in real-time embedded applications
Experience with Python scripting
A working knowledge of Communication Systems, Digital Signal Processing, or Kalman Filter Theory.
Experience working systems development processes for real-time embedded applications
Additional, but not necessary, skills include:
Experience creating, modifying, and reviewing digital signal processing architectures and source code
Experience developing verification and validation tests
Experience developing support scripts and utilities
Experience performing hardware, firmware, and software integration, verification and validation activities
Experience using electronics lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
Experience with modernized software development processes (e.g. Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps)
Knowledge/experience with Lean-Agile principles and Agile Teams
Hands on experience with PNT solutions is preferred.
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
