HMN01: S&IS (Sensors) - Burnsville 14300 Judicial Rd, Burnsville, MN, 55306 USAWe are seeking an experienced professional in the field of mechanical engineering management to fill the role of Mechanical Engineering Group Lead within the Ice, Rain & Stall (IRS) Engineering organization. IRS Engineering, as part of the broader Collins Engineering organization, serves the IRS Product Value Stream.
The Group Lead manages a team of mechanical engineers responsible for proposing, designing, qualifying, certifying, and supporting a variety of aerospace products. IRS products include Ice Detectors, Ice Rate Sensors, Ice Protection Systems, Windshield Ice Protection / Heater Controllers, Angle of Attack Sensors, Stall Warning/Protection Systems, and Windshield Wipers Systems.
Duties include developing and implementing mechanical engineering best practices, processes, and tools, and ensuring the team is properly trained in support of our programs and support activities. The Group Lead will also be looked upon to assess, and be cognizant of, team member professional growth through the application of career development activities.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with engineers, operations, quality, and supply chain is required to achieve optimal design solutions that meet requirements while minimizing life cycle costs. The candidate should be experienced in all product life cycle phases, including planning, design & development, verification & validation, certification, and support of solutions.
The candidate will be responsible for assessing both short- and long-term resource needs with continual monitoring of project activities and their associated loading requirements. Open communication with Value Stream stakeholders is required to ensure staffing alignment in support of business objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Proven experience supporting all product life cycle phases, from proposal through entry-into-service and sustaining support.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate teamwork across a cross-functional, Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Experience managing a team of engineering professionals in a product development environment.
Proven experience building effective teams while fostering a culture that results in employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and business results.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate among various leadership levels, peers, and direct reports.
Experience with aerospace development standards (RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, etc.) is preferred, or experience in a regulated industry with similar development and certification standards.
