Role Overview
The Senior System and Software Test Engineer will be responsible for integration and acceptance testing of Train Control Applications including Positive Train Control, Centralized Traffic Control, Passenger Information and Display Systems (PIDS), and Back Office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining test artifacts including test plans, procedures, reports, manual and automated scripts.
  • Maintaining requirements traceability.
  • Executing manual and automated tests.
  • Identifying and documenting defects and questionable functions.
  • Managing and coordinating resolution of defects through to closure and generating statistics.
  • Participating in team meetings and activities.
  • Participating in development and peer reviews of software documentation.
  • Configuration management of test environment and lab.
  • Creation and installation of test and release builds. 
  • Supporting production issues



Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Testing client-server applications.
  • Testing back-end applications.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ and Java programming.
  • Experience with SQL commands and Oracle Database.
  • Experience with TCL, Python or Perl scripting languages.

Related experience in the following:

  • Formal Test Cycles (planning, documentation, execution, analysis and reporting).
  • System\software engineering life cycle and process.
  • Software quality assurance.
  • Software Systems testing.
  • Data driven, functional and requirements based testing.
  • Understanding of testing and automation technologies.
  • Hands on manual and automated testing.
  • Experience testing in virtual environments.
  • Requirements traceability.
  • Experience with change management processes and procedures.
  • Experience in adhering to IEEE software quality assurance and test standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in adhering to configuration management (CM) standards (including the use of enterprise level CM tools).
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO-9001 and CMMI standards.

The candidate must demonstrate: 

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and quickly adapt to schedule demands.
  • The ability to learn, prioritize and adapt to new technologies along with attention to details.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills. 
  • The ability to work as part of a dynamic and skilled team.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with the following:  testing SCADA systems and/or train control applications including Positive Train Control; hands on automated testing; requirements management tools; configuration management; user training; technical documentation production.
